Elementary school students from across Louisiana are invited to compete in the Louisiana Elementary Math & Coding Olympiad (LEMCO) on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
The event will take place in person at Kenilworth Science and Technology Academy, located at 8716 Siegen Ln, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
Hosted by Kenilworth Science and Technology Academy, this exciting competition challenges and inspires young learners to explore mathematics and computer science through engaging, rigorous, and hands-on contests designed for upper elementary students.
Registration Deadline: March 16, 2026
Seats are limited, and registration will close early if capacity is reached before the deadline.
We encourage students to register early to secure their place in this year’s Olympiad.
Eligibility
Open to all 4th and 5th grade students currently enrolled in a Louisiana elementary school.
Competition Details
Math Test
Multiple-choice format
Aligned with the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics
Includes advanced questions to help determine tiebreakers
Coding Test
Based on Code.org’s Computer Science Connections Curriculum
Highlights how computer science connects with math, language arts, science, and social studies
Encourages students to apply coding concepts across multiple subjects and real-world contexts
Includes both block-based and text-based programming activities
Event Schedule – Saturday, March 28, 2026
10:00–10:30 AM — Arrival and sign-in for coding students
10:30–11:15 AM — Coding test
11:00–11:30 AM — Arrival for math-only students; break/snack for coding students
11:30 AM–12:30 PM — Math testing
12:30–1:30 PM — Lunch, activities, and test grading
1:30–1:45 PM — Award ceremony
Awards
All participants will receive a LEMCO participation certificate.
Additionally, the Top 10 students per grade level (4th and 5th) in each category (Math and Coding) will receive LEMCO Medals in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

Special Teacher Awards
To recognize outstanding educators who inspire student excellence, the Top 3 teachers with the most students placing in the Top 10 overall (across both math and coding competitions) will each receive a $100 gift card.
*Students may participate in both the Math and Coding competitions but can only win one major prize.
*If a student places in both, they may choose which award to accept.
*Prizes are subject to change based on availability. Equivalent prizes of similar value will be substituted if necessary.
Parents, Guardians, Siblings, and Teachers
While students compete, there will be workshops, trainings, and interactive activities for parents, guardians, siblings, and teachers.
It will be a fun, inspiring day of learning and exploration in math, computer science, and beyond!
